Quantitative MRI for arterial tissue biomarkers
Non-invasive imaging offers great potential for several clinical applications, both in disease and treatment monitoring. Specifically, within arterial tissue better clinical indicators for vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, as well as tracking of vascular graft integration, could benefit from insights using non-invasive imaging. Brooke’s PhD work focused on ex vivo investigations of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) within arterial tissue for disease progression, plaque rupture and graft recellularisation. Her current post-doctoral work shifts focus to quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) and looks to establish an in vivo sequence capable of non-invasively informing on the microstructure of the carotid arteries.
